NPHCDA hands over essential drugs to NAHCON for Hajj pilgrims

National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has handed over essential medical supplies to National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to ensure the health and well-being of Nigerian pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey.

The Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr. Muyi Aina, said during the handover on Sunday in Abuja that it was important to provide comprehensive medical support to the pilgrims.

Aina, who acknowledged the tedious nature of the pilgrimage, highlighted the coordinated efforts to supply vaccines and essential drugs to all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said that the medical supplies include antimalaria, antihypertensive, analgesics and antibiotics, aimed at providing timely medical assistance to the pilgrims.

The NPHCDA boss expressed gratitude to the chairman, board members, directors, and staff of NAHCON “for their invaluable partnership, as well as the Coordinating Minister of Health for his unwavering support.”

He said that the timely procurement and delivery of the essential medicines underscored Federal Government’s support to the pilgrims.

The NAHCON Chairman, Dr Jalaludeen Arabi, who received the drugs on behalf of the pilgrims expressed gratitude and commitment to ensuring the health and safety of the Nigerian pilgrims.

He said ” on behalf of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, I extend our deepest appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and NPHCDA for their unwavering support and collaboration in this vital initiative.

“The provision of these essential medical supplies is a testament to our shared commitment to the well-being of our pilgrims.”

He said that the drugs would help in providing timely medical assistance to pilgrims throughout the journey.

“We understand the physical and emotional demands of Hajj, and we are dedicated to ensuring that our pilgrims receive the best possible care,” he added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the handover ceremony, held at the National Strategic Cold Room, Abuja Airport, was attended by representatives of Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, NPHCDA staff, and other dignitaries.

The event marked a collaborative effort between Federal Ministry of Health, NPHCDA and NAHCON to provide comprehensive medical support to pilgrims.(NAN)
