The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), on Monday congratulated Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu, on his emergence as the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
This is contained in a release by NYCN’s Acting Vice President, Southeast, Comrade Izunna Agwuncha and made available to newsmen in Owerri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chukwu was sworn-in as the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide by the organization’s National Legal Adviser, Mr. Joseph Ojobu, and the Assistant Legal Adviser, Dr. Peter Aneke.
He was sworn in following his nomination by Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, Chairman Imo Council of Elders and seconded by Chief Simon Okeke.
In line with the doctrine of necessity, the Imo Chapter of Ohanaeze, led by Mr C J Ihemedu, presented Chukwu to the Imeobi Ohanaeze to exhaust the balance of four year tenure allotted to Imo, which was cut short by the deaths of Prof. George Obiozor in 2022 and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu in 2024.
Agwuncha wished the new Ohanaeze P-G success, divine guidance and wisdom as he completed the Imo tenure which would end on Jan. 10, 2025.
“We strongly believe that he will bring his vast knowledge and experience to bear in the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, while prioritising the interests of Nigeria’s future leaders, the youths, in addressing socioeconomic other challenges bedeviling the southeast.
“We use this medium to express our readiness for strong, effective collaboration with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, its women and youth wings as well as all its organs for the promotion of its mission and vision,” Agwuncha said. (NAN)
