Obama greets ex-President Carter on 99th birthday

A former President of the United States, Barack Obama, has sent congratulatory birthday greeting to his fellow ex-President, Jimmy Carter, who clocks 99 today.

Born on October 1, 1924, James Earl Carter Jr. is an American politician and humanitarian who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981.

He is a member of the Democratic Party, and he had also served as the 76th governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975, and as a Georgia state senator from 1963 to 1967.

Taking to his verified X handle on Sunday, October 1, Obama tweeted: “Happy 99th birthday, President Carter! You’ve inspired so many people around the world with your leadership, character, and commitment to service. Michelle and I hope you have a wonderful birthday and send our best wishes to you and Rosalynn.”

Incidentally, October 1 is also Nigeria’s Independence Day, even as the nation marks its 63rd Independent Anniversary today.
