Oborevwori vows agric reforms to enhance food production in Delta

In a proactive move to amplify food production and institute sustainable agricultural reforms, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has affirmed his commitment to enhancing the agricultural value chain.

The governor says he aims to fortify food security and generate employment opportunities across the state.

Governor Oborevwori revealed this commitment while addressing the media following his inspection of the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS) at the Mbiri Farm Settlement.

This settlement boasts 30 greenhouses dedicated to the cultivation of tomatoes and various vegetables in Ika North-East. Additionally, the Agro-Industrial Park in Aboh-Ogwashi, Aniocha South local government area, focusing on rice milling and other agricultural activities, was scrutinized by the governor.

Highlighting the financial backing for these initiatives, the governor pledged support from the two billion naira Special Agricultural Intervention Fund, slated for disbursement within the month.

Emphasizing the significance of farming in the wake of oil subsidy removal, Governor Oborevwori stressed the imperative role agriculture plays in ensuring food security and availability.

He underscored that, beyond road construction, his administration will prioritize essential infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering food security and fostering job creation in the state.

Meanwhile, the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS) revealed the strategic placement of their farms across the state’s three Senatorial Districts, optimizing productivity, availability, and distribution for improved agricultural outcomes.
