Ogun first baby of the year gets scholarship

A non-profit organization, Junior Chamber International (JCI), has offered a scholarship to the first baby of the year in Abeokuta, Ogun State’s capital.

The scholarship, covering the child’s primary education, was accompanied by a presentation of essential items, including a baby cot, clothes, diapers, and a baby wrapper, at the Oke-Ilewo Family Health Centre in Abeokuta.

The newly elected JCI Rock City President, Dr. Hazzan Kafidipe, clarified that celebrating the first baby is part of the organization’s annual ‘The Future Projects’, a tradition spanning over 13 years.

Kafidipe made known that, the Foundation confirmed that the Oke-Ilewo Family Health Center welcomed the first baby boy to the Olowokere family around 4:50 am after visiting different government hospitals in Abeokuta.

A press release issued by Kafidipe on Tuesday reads in part: “Our scholarships are made possible through partnerships and sponsors. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the parents, providing a copy and maintaining regular follow-ups to ensure continued support.”

The Foundation explained that the ‘The Future Projects’ involves welcoming the first baby of the year with gifts, sponsorship, and scholarships and that this, it is expanding its efforts by establishing a fixed account for the baby.
