Ogun mourns as Cash Madam Adebisi Edionseri passes on

Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has expressed sorrow on the passing of notable businesswoman and socialite, Mrs. Adebisi Edionseri, describing her death as a significant loss to the state and Nigeria.

Mr. Lekan Adeniran the Chief Press Secretary to the governor stated this in a statement in Abeokuta on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Edionseri died on Sunday at the age of 89.

Abiodun praised Edionseri’s contributions to Ogun, highlighting her as a beacon of inspiration and a role model for countless individuals.

The governor noted that her legacy as a successful entrepreneur and social figure, left an indelible mark, resonating across generations since the 1970s.

He explained that she achieved remarkable success at a young age, demonstrating resilience and ambition that had inspired many in Ogun and beyond.

He prayed that God should give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“Alhaja Adebisi’s contributions to the business community and her vibrant social presence will be reference points for generations yet unborn.

“Her influence extended far and wide, making her a cherished figure in the hearts of many.”

The popular socialite and businesswoman, Adebisi Edionseri, popularly known as Cash Madam, died at the age of 89.

She died after a brief illness on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Platform Times reports.

Her passing away was announced in a statement on behalf of the family by one of her children, Dr Adebayo Adebowale.

The statement noted that the renowned businesswoman touched many lives in her family and community, as she was a “shining example of grace, dignity and unwavering faith.”

“With deep gratitude to Allah for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede), who returned to her creator on January 5, 2025, at the age of 89, following a brief illness.

“Her life was a shining example of grace, dignity and unwavering faith. Princess Edionseri touched the lives of many through her wisdom, kindness and dedication to both her family and her community. She taught us the importance of love, resilience, and faith in Allah, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

“As we grieve this monumental loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived. Her laughter, warmth, and the values she instilled will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us as we navigate life without her physical presence,” the statement partly read.

Following Islamic rites, Edionseri will be buried on Monday, January 6, 2025, by 4 pm at her residence in the Abeokuta Government Residential Area of the state. (NAN)
