The Osun State Police Command says it has detained a 29-year-old Damilare Jacob, suspected to be a rapist and an armed robber.

Police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, announced the arrest during a parade of the suspect at the state Police headquarters.

Opalola said Damilare, a commercial motorcyclist, is accused of robbing and sexually assaulting an Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) student in Ile-Ife.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 26, 2024, around 7:05 pm, when the student hired Damilare for a ride from Ile-Ife to Moro town. Instead of proceeding to the destination, Damilare took her into a nearby bush, where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.
