The newly elected Chairperson of the Conference of Nigerian Female Parliamentarians (CONFEPA), Bolaji Olagbaju has highlighted her immediate goals, starting with a strong emphasis on enhancing women’s inclusion in Nigerian governance.
Following her election in Abuja, Olagbaju is set to assume the role of CONFEPA chairperson for a four-year tenure, succeeding the former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Elizabeth Ativie.
Expressing her commitment, Olagbaju who is currently the Deputy Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, outline plans to diligently work on reactivating the 35percent affirmative action within the Nigerian polity.
Chatting with journalists in Ado Ekiti, she asserts that, during her tenure, female lawmakers will devise legitimate means to advocate for the abolishment of laws infringing on women and girl-child citizens’ rights in Nigeria.
Representating Ado Ekiti Constituency II in the state House of Assembly, Olagbaju brings additional experience as a Senior Special Assistant to the state governor before her election into the state parliament.
