Oyo Assembly renames Oke-Ogun Poly after former lawmaker

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill to rename Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki as Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso Polytechnic, Saki, in honour of the late elder statesman, Chief Michael Koleoso.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill was passed after the presentation of the report to the House Committee on Education (Tertiary Institutions, Science and Technology).

The report was read by the Chairman of the committee, Mr. Oluwafemi Oluwafowokanmi, Tagged, “Oke-Ogun Polytechnic Saki Amendment Bill, 2024, and was passed after Clause by Clause by the House.

NAN reports that Chief Michael Koleoso, a former Secretary to Oyo State Government, (SSG) between 1999 and 2003 during the administration of former Gov. Lamidi Adesina, died on Sept. 2, at the age of 86.

He was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly in 1979 before former governor Bola Ige appointed him commissioner same year.

Until his death, Koleoso was the Babalaje of Saki land.

The Speaker, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin, said the bill was to honour Koleoso’s significant contributions to Okeogun and indeed Oyo State in general. (NAN)
