Oyo Govt seals banks, telecoms premises over non-payment of land use charge

The Oyo State Government on Tuesday sealed off some commercial banks and telecommunications masts in the state capital, Ibadan.

According to the enforcement team from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, led by the Director, Land Use Charge, Olufisayo Ogunbiyi, the action was not unconnected with the non-compliance with revenue payment to the coffers of the state government.

Ogunbiyi revealed that the sealed banks and the telecommunications outfits had earlier been served notices and that their business premises would be re-opened as soon as they pay the required land use charge.

While he noted that the government has zero tolerance for non-compliance to its policies; he urged all business owners to ensure prompt payment of charges to the government account to avoid disruption of business.
