Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Navy, Yusuf Gagdi, has started to explain why he gifted his daughter, Aisha, a Sport Utility Vehicle on her graduation from secondary school.
The young lady has just graduated from the Lead British International School, Abuja.
On Saturday, the lawmaker had splashed the photos of the graduation and the gift on his Facebook wall, stating: “Today, I attended my amazing daughter’s graduation ceremony. Watching you, my dear daughter, walk across that stage fills my heart with immense pride and love.
“I celebrate your achievements and the strength you’ve shown. Here’s to a future filled with endless possibilities and happiness.
“Congratulations, my shining star!”
The lawmaker said he had also made “a significant donation of N3 million to top students and dedicated staff to encourage academic excellence.”
However, Gagdi soon came under harsh criticisms, which made him to make two successive posts on Sunday, explaining the reasons for his action.
Again, contrary to what many had thought was a new SUV, the lawmaker said the vehicle was actually bought in 2020.

Gagdi’s daughter Aisha was said to have excelled in her UTME, and to celebrate her achievement, her lawmaker dad had surprised her with the luxury vehicle.
The lawmaker’s gesture had generated mixed reactions on social media, with some praising his generosity, while others criticised what they described as “extravagant gift amidst Nigeria’s economic woes.”
