The leadership of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has criticized the federal government regarding its response to planned protests.
According to MASSOB, the protests aim to address issues such as hunger, high living costs, corruption, and government accountability, and are therefore not attributable to Peter Obi or his supporters.
MASSOB suggests in statement on Tuesday that the protests are a response to broader societal concerns, rather than being orchestrated by any individual or group.
The organisation also expresses concerns about the motivations of certain political leaders in the northern region of Nigeria.
“Mr Bayo Onanuga and Omokiri are two leading internal and external figures sponsored by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal government of Nigeria in waging wars of character assassination, blackmailing and incitement against Mr. Peter Obi,” the statement alleged.
It added, “Mr. Obi is a true nationalist, detribalised hope of the common citizens. He is being celebrated nationwide as the hero of modern democracy in Nigeria.
“Though MASSOB believes in Biafra restoration, we acknowledge the input of Mr. Peter Obi in advancement of uniting the Nigerian state.”
