The Police have apprehended a notorious gang that specializes in robbing churches and carting away their gadgets.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God [RCCG] Dominion Mega Parish fell victim to the gang on November 17, 2023, as they stole all the church gadgets. The concerned pastor promptly reported the incident to the Orerokpe police station in Okpe LGA of Delta State.
On November 19th, a vigilant church member spotted one Patrick Emete allegedly advertising one of the stolen church amplifiers on Facebook.
Subsequent negotiations alleged occurred via a phone call, leading to a planned meeting at Effurun roundabout to finalize the transaction. However, police intervened as Emete arrived to complete the deal.
Upon apprehension, Emete, resident of Ughoton Community, implicated his alleged partner, one Alex Uwagbafor, aged 45, residing at New Era Clinic Deco Road. The police swiftly apprehended both men.
Preliminary investigations unveiled the duo’s involvement in a series of burglaries targeting churches, stores, and residences throughout the town.
The police successfully recovered a substantial amount of stolen property, including 20 loudspeakers, three generators, 15 large mixer amplifiers, four keyboards, 12 power amplifiers, 10 industrial standing fans, a complete drum set, a guitar, a power microphone, two standing freezers, two plasma televisions, two home theaters, a washing machine, three stabilizers, three handsaws, a clipper, a microwave, a small oven, and a gas cylinder.
In the course of the investigation, another pastor (whose name is withheld) disclosed that the gang had also targeted his church a few weeks prior to the police operation.
Subsequently, the police, accompanied by the suspects, recovered additional stolen items on Eburu Street, Warri.
The items included 11 loudspeakers, five professional power amplifiers, six professional mixers, a Serato DJ deck, a Pioneer DJ deck, a plasma TV, four generators, a generator without a tank, a power microphone set, a projector, two sets of English mini drums, and a large stabilizer.
Currently held in police station, the suspects are undergoing further investigation, and the police are actively pursuing the recovery of additional stolen items from the gang.
