A Police Inspector in Delta State has been detained and disarmed after firing a shot that struck a boy in the leg and abdomen.
In an unfortunate incident on Tuesday, an inspector from the Delta State Police Command has been apprehended and disarmed after allegedly firing a shot that struck a young boy’s leg and abdomen at a checkpoint along the East-West road in Ughelli, Delta state.
The distressing incident came to light when an individual, identified as X user, shared the grievous details online, accompanied by graphic videos depicting the victim’s injuries.
The tweet read, “Operative of the Nigeria Police Force on stop and check along east-west road Ughelli, has allegedly opened fire on a boy, with a bullet hitting his leg and abdomen…. @Brightgoldenboy no go see this one….………una no go check the wolf’s wey una give uniform and gun.”
Responding to the incident, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, expressed sorrow and confirmed that the implicated officer has been arrested.
In a subsequent update, Edafe shared a blurred photo of the detained officer and assured the public that the injured victim is currently receiving medical attention.
