Police reveal identity of Inspector who killed Enugu musician

The Enugu State Police Command has identified Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph as the officer responsible for the fatal shooting of popular Ogene musician Chikezie Okezie Nwamba.

Nwamba also known as Igbo-Jah, was murdered at the Anti-cult Tactical Squad headquarters on Friday evening.

A statement on Saturday evening, the Command’s spokesperson DSP Daniel Ndukwe, explained that Inspector Joseph is currently in custody, and upon completion of the investigation, will face the full consequences of the law.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu, accompanied by high-ranking Enugu State Government officials, have visited the Nwamba family to offer condolences for the tragic loss of their son.

Ndukwe said that CP Kanayo during the visit reassured the family, relatives, friends, and good people of Enugu State that the ongoing investigation into the case will be concluded within record time and justice duly served.

The CP according the statement, emphasised that the Nigeria Police Force remains a disciplined organisation where erring police officers are made to face the consequences of their actions to serve as deterrence to others.

“He restated his sympathy and empathy to everyone affected by the unfortunate and callous murder of the musician, urging all and sundry to keep faith with the police while justice is done to the case.”
