Lawmaker Obi Aguocha (LP-Abia) has advised the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Benjamin Kalu, against making statements capable of heating up the polity.
He said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja, following Kalu’s remark that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia would take over the state in 2027.
Aguocha said that the comment credited to the Deputy Speaker was shocking and unbecoming of a person of his status.
He said, “Kalu’s open outburst against our Gov. Alex Otti of the Labour Party and Abia, was disrespectful in every sense of the word.”
“Whilst we elected you to be our Deputy Speaker, it does not confer on you to declare the seat of the governor of Abia vacant in 2027.
“It would have been advisable that we are seen focused on our legislative duties, our constituents, Abia and the Southeast at large.
“You must now use that all-important position as Deputy Speaker to de-marginalise and reduce the agitation of our people and promote inclusiveness.
According to him, Abia people are still safe and will remain so with a high performing Otti by 2027 and beyond. (NAN)
