Sea waves carry off 13-year-old boy in Lagos

A 13-year-old boy, Kelvin Onyengba, has drowned during a hangout at the Alatise beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred at about 12:00pm on Tuesday.

It was also gathered that the deceased went swimming with five of his friends.

A police source said the tragedy occurred on February 27, adding that the boy Kelvin died as a result of the sea’s waves.

The source, “The incident happened yesterday. The mother of the boy said that the wave of the water swept her son. According to her, he went out with five of his friends to swim and hang out, but unfortunately, the boy did not come back to his parents.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, adding that the scene of the incident had been visited by detectives from the area, and that the family of the deceased was still awaiting the missing body.
