A private primary school teacher who was seen in a viral video repeatedly hitting an underage pupil has been arrested by the police on Wednesday.
The female teacher, whose name was given as Mrs. Stella Nwadigbo, repeatedly slapped three-year-old Abayomi Michael while teaching him what appeared to be a numerate subject like mathematics, as she repeatedly ordered the abused child to, “Write six for me.”
The minor, who remained quiet despite the repeated hard slaps, continued to follow his teacher’s instruction, even when she didn’t appear impressed by his efforts.
Each time the angry teacher dealt him a hard slap, the child staggered back and struggled back to a standing position. This happened twice in the short clip.
Interestingly enough, an adult person and other pupils in the video didn’t appear disturbed about the disturbing incident.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Christ-Mitots School, Isawo Road, Ola Inu Kan Bus-Stop, Isawo, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Someone who appeared to know the child and his mother said he is the son of a poor widow who does menial jobs to take care of her children.
The Lagos State Ministry of Education is yet to give a formal response on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
