Six die in Lagos’ multiple accidents involving four vehicles, two Okada riders

The Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State was thrown into confusion following a tragic multi-vehicle accident involving an oil tanker, two commercial buses, a Honda saloon car, and two commercial motorcycles at the Second Rainbow area, heading towards Mile 2, on Sunday.

The incident, which occurred around 4 p.m., reportedly led to the loss of six lives, according to sources present at the scene.

An eyewitness, speaking anonymously, revealed that the accident was triggered when the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing into other road users. “The trailer’s brakes failed, and it collided with the vehicles. They have already taken some bodies away, about six or seven,” she stated.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident through a post on its X handle (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. While LASTMA did not specify the number of casualties, they indicated that the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) was present to provide immediate medical assistance to the victims.

The LASTMA statement read: “A multiple accident involving a tanker loaded with oil, two commercial buses, a Honda saloon car, and two commercial motorcycles has just occurred at Second Rainbow inward Mile 2. @lasambus is on the ground to attend to the casualties involved, and safety measures are being put in place by our men.”
