Social media activist Dan Bello , who has helped thousands of families get justice. The most recent viral case is that of Seaman Abbas Haruna, who was incarcerated for six years for disobeying a senior colleague.
Then, netizens began to compare Dan Bello with Ahmed Isah, with many expressing the view that Dan Bello doesn’t rank anywhere near Ahmad Isah in terms of achievements. Dan Bello saw it and graciously opted out of the award.
In his response to the ongoing social media back-and-forth on the issue, Dan Bello tweeted via his verified X handle @BelloGaladanchi:
Ordinary President is a million miles ahead, and service for humanity should never be a competition. It sensationalizes people’s suffering. I don’t want any award from anyone. We just want people to fight for the masses without any anticipation of reward, fame or recognition. Pandora can channel their energy into educating more of our masses so that one day, we all can be liberated.
He implored the organizers to use their platform to educate and sensitize the masses.
Before that, Ahmad Isah’s supporters said the comparison was a blatant disrespect to Isah’s efforts over the years, noting that his Berekete Family programme has been running since 2009, serving as a voice for the voiceless across the country.
In 2023, Berekete Family, a Non Governmental Organisation, raised about $850,000 in fundings, and has impacted an estimated 50,000 people.
