Super Falcons’ captain Onome Ebi celebrates mentor Paul Nnakwe

Super Falcons’ Captain, Onome Ebi, has celebrated and prayed for the grassroots coach who discovered her, Mr. Paul Okwudili Nnakwe, also known as PALEPA.

Ebi in a video, appreciated Mr. Okwudili, saying, she sees him as her father.

“This is my papa. I see you as my papa right from when i was a little child. To me you are a king. I may not have the whole world to give you but i will give you my love till I die. Thank you for everything and for making somebody today. This is my father,” she reiterated.

Mr. Okwudili who hugged her as his daughter prayed for her; assuring her of greater achievements in her career.

Forty-year-old Ebi is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Nigerian club Abia Angels and the Nigeria women’s national team.

In 2023, she became the first African footballer, male or female, to play in six FIFA World Cup Tournaments.

On July 6, 2019 she became the first African Footballer to play in five FIFA World Cup Tournaments, taking part in the 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015, 2019 editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Ebi was also a member of the Nigerian squad in the 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions of the African Women’s Championship, winning the tournament four times 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

On June 16, 2023 she was included in the 23-player Nigerian squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, which was her sixth tournament.
