An announcement by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, that a token has been sent to Senators’ account to enjoy their holiday has sparked reactions on social media
Akpabio had disclosed the news about the money in a viral video seen on Wednesday before a motion for adjournment was moved after the ministerial screening.
He said, “In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the Clerk of the National Assembly.” However, he was quickly alerted by some senators that the plenary session was still live on television.
Then, he withdrew the statement and said, “In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the Senate President has sent prayers to your mail boxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return.”
