The Nigerian Army has made a significant arrest, capturing 25-year-old Shamsiyya Ahadu, an ammunition courier for terrorists, along with her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, a motorcycle rider.
The arrest took place on Saturday, December 28, in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Troops from 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma made the arrest, seizing 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines intended for terrorist kingpin Bello Turji’s camp.
According to a statement on Saturday, by Coordinator Joint Media Coordinating Centre Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel, Abubakar Abdullahi, the arrest was made possible by an intelligence report on the movement of terrorist logistics in the area.
“Members of the public are therefore urged not to relent in their efforts at providing credible information that would lead to the arrest of wanted terrorists and their collaborators. Additionally, the Theatre wishes to appreciate the sustained local support it is enjoying from the people of the Zone towards the fulfilment of Operation Fansan Yamma mandate.”
This development comes on the heels of other successful military operations against terrorists in Nigeria. Recently, troops killed eight terrorists and freed 40 hostages in Kaduna and Borno States. The military also intercepted terrorists attempting to relocate abducted victims, rescuing 38 hostages in the process.
