UI sends students on three-week break over tuition hike protest

THE management of the University of Ibadan has directed its students to proceed on a three-week break from Saturday, August 31 to September 20.

According to an internal memo released by the institution to that effect, it said the decision came following a meeting between the university authorities and the Students Union Government (SUG).

Among the reasons for the break is that it is expected to give students enough time to complete their registration and also prepare for their first semester examination, which will start on Monday, September 23.

The statement, signed by the Registrar, G.O Saliu, ordered the students to leave the halls of residence by 2:00p m. on Saturday [today].
