UK Police intensify search for missing Nigerian poet

The UK police have begun a search for the British-Nigerian poet Gboyega Odubanjo who reportedly vanished at a remote music event.

The celebrated poet has been missing since the early hours of Saturday.

According to the statement by the police, Odubanjo is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall with short black dreadlocks and a full beard, and he also typically wears glasses.

The 27-year-old was last spotted at the Northamptonshire event, Shambala, where he was expected to perform later that day.

He was last seen wearing a beige/cream bucket hat, a red and white striped gilet, black trousers and dark shoes.

“Gboyega is from the Bromley area of London. If you see Gboyega, please call Northamptonshire Police on 999,” the statement reads in part.

Information and previous sightings can also be reported by calling 101, quoting reference number MPD1/2619/23.

“Gboyega if you see this appeal, please contact us or your loved ones – we need to make sure you are safe and OK,” the police added.

The UK police further appeal to the general public on possible sightings or relevant information surrounding the whereabouts of Gboyega Odubanjo.
