An airplane in the fleet of Dana Air skidded off the runway as it landed at the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport [MMIA], Lagos, on Tuesday [today].
There were 83 passengers aboard, along with the flight crew, but everyone escaped unhurt.
The early morning downpour in Lagos was blamed for the near-mishap.
It was further gathered that the aircraft flew into Lagos from Abuja.
The airline management subsequently said it had grounded the aircraft with registration number 5N BKI.
Also, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has deployed investigators to the site of the incident.
A Press release by the head, Corporate Communications, Dana Air, Kingsley Ezenwa, stated that all the 83 passengers and crew disembarked safely without injuries or scare as the crew handled the situation with utmost professionalism.
According to him, the incident has been reported to necessary safety agencies and the aircraft involved has been grounded by the airlines’ maintenance team for further investigation.
