VIDEO: Different accounts of why Poco Lee’s LASU homecoming party was disrupted

  • Bella Shmurda, Odumodu flee scene

All hell was let loose Friday night at the venue of the ‘Homecoming’ concert organized by popular dancer and choreographer, Iwe Paschal Odinaka, aka, Poco Lee.

The concert, which was staged at the Buba Marwa Auditorium of the Lagos State University’s main campus at Ojo, Lagos State, was supposed to be a homecoming celebration for the dancer who graduated from the tertiary institution in 2019 with a degree in Microbiology.

The concert also featured top celebrities, especially from the music industry, who had come to support the ‘Sope o ti lo’ act, with artistes like Bella Shmurda and Odumodu Black meant to be the headline acts.

However, what was supposed to be a moment of celebration nearly became a nightmare.

Videos that have been circulating across social media platforms show guest artistes like Bella Shmurda being whisked away, half naked, by security guards amidst the angry mob; while Odumodu was seen running for his life.

Hours after the news hit the air, people who claim to be students of the school and who were allegedly present at the concert have come out to give an insight into why the event turned sour.

A Twitter user @Choco_daville, who claimed to be at the venue, said, “The whole scene wouldn’t have happened if Poco Lee hadn’t been negligent. Why would you sell more tickets than the capacity of the hall and now deny people entry and be using military to threaten students who paid to enjoy your show”.

The Twitterati also posted a video she made of the show. In the video, the overcrowded arena can be seen, filled to the brim with students vandalizing the barriers, trying to make their way into the venue, while the security operatives appeared overpowered.

Also, responding to one of the comments under her post, she explained further that those who appeared to be gate-crashing were those who had paid for the show but were not allowed to get in because the venue was already overcrowded.

In another trending video, the organizer of the show – Poco Lee, can be seen on stage complaining bitterly to the crowd and trying to know the reasons behind the hostilities being displayed by the crowd, even when he brought them all their favorite artistes as promised.

Poco Lee and other artistes involved, such as Bella Shmurda and Odumodu have all come out to announce that they are safe and sound, debunking stories of attacks and assaults making the rounds on social media.
