Nigerian singer and songwriter, Stanley Omah Didia, professionally known as Omah Lay, has revealed that he no longer enjoys religion since he has made money.
Speaking with Wunmi Bello on her podcast, Omah Lay said, “As soon as I made money, I just believed in God, respected God and became more human than religion. I don’t just enjoy religion anymore.
He mentioned that despite being raised in a Christian home and despite spending a lot of time in church; at some point, he considered converting to Islam. “But now, I am at the point where it is just me and God, no religion” he said.
While he emphasized his belief in the existence of God, he expressed doubts about religious texts and the origins of their teachings.
“I really don’t know anything about religion. That’s the problem. These holy books and what everybody is saying, I know it sounds true; but these are just books that I cannot find evidence that this was written by God or his servants.
“I just feel like I don’t know anything in as much as I know the Bible, Jesus and Allah. But at the end, I don’t have evidence. The only evidence I have is that there’s a God who is moving me.
“I know that there must be something that’s somewhere that’s in charge of this whole thing. I believe it’s God.”
