Mixed reactions have greeted the encounter between human rights activist and a three-time presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore and some operatives of Nigeria Police Force.
In a video clip uploaded on his verified X handle @YeleSowore, the Sahara Reporters publisher tongue-lashed some policemen for asking him to park.

See the reactions:
This is very rampant, they now go to airport roads
I have seen this in PH too on the way to PH airport Omagwa, they have stopped on two occasions

You cannot go to an advanced country and see the police blocking major roads for any reason other than a serious security bridge. No way!

Nigeria police should cease checkpoints and start driving around like yankee police do, also make sure they can look up plate number in their vehicle and see who is driving, Nigeria has the capacity to do it but they dont want to do it because it will solve a lot of problems…

To be honest, this is a very outdated form of policing. Hopefully, some day, Nigeria police will get it right.

Lagos- Benin express way was hell today. They lined up dozens of private cars, the commercials vehicles drops their offerings as usual and they’re allowed to go while the private cars suffers the heat

1. These are Police officers from Makinde Police Station in Mafoluku area of Oshodi. They are always at this junction by 7n8 bus stop on Airport Road. What I have noticed with these officers is that they ALWAYS on a daily extort road users on that axis.

Others see things differently:
Mr Sowore, even inside airport in all countries, you’ll always find the police inside airport and this include various checkpoints. I honestly don’t see what’s wrong with the police making sure everyone and every vehicle is safe before going into the airport or airport road as…

This is irresponsible sha. They could be wrong for mounting the road illegally but not being civil enough to talk to them shouldn’t be condoned sir.
— Dau Tips (@ForeverDau) January 9, 2025
You shouldn’t be seen being hostile to policemen because they would still be your security details if you eventually became a house of representatives member.
— Olufsen (@oluwatayofem) January 9, 2025
This behavior is shameful and all shades of wrong. They are doing their job. Allow them do their job.
— Leaked Fact (@leaked_fact) January 9, 2025
Why can’t you just park and let them do their job ? If they do anything wrong then you can sue them. They’re obviously doing their job. Is it a must for their boss to be there before you can park ?. This is not right Mr Yele.
