VIDEO: Nigerians query authenticity of Chidimma Adetshina’s claim to being Nigerian

The controversies that kicked beauty queen Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina out of the Miss South Africa 2024 is currently dodging her way as Nigerians also query the authenticity of her Nigerian citizenship after she accepted to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

At the Miss South Africa 2024, Chidimma reached the top 11 finalists, but was called to be removed from the contest because of her mixed heritage.

According to her Wiki entry, Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina was born in 2001 in Soweto at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital to a Nigerian father, and a Mozambican mother, though some sources claim that her mother is allegedly a Zulu South African.

“Her father is of Igbo descent, while her mother is a Mozambican who had became a naturalized citizen of South Africa. Upon confusion of her birthplace and nationality, she cleared the case by providing proof to the authorities,” the Wiki bio said.

The Wiki bio adds, a few days “after the launch of Adetshina’s mother background investigation, the Department of Home Affairs found preliminary evidence of fraud and identity theft committed by Adetshina’s mother to obtain South African citizenship in 2001. It was claimed that she was unable participate in the contest due to her mixed heritage.”

In the same vein, callers on Danfo Conversation, a Friday afternoon programme anchored by Ireti Bakare on Nigeria Info 99.3FM, gave diverse explanations for the spelling of her Igbo name “Chidimma;” while Yoruba callers on the programme said that her supposed surname of “Adetshina” is not a Yoruba name and that if ever it has any root in Nigeria, it would most probably be in Itsekiri, Warri, Delta State.

The callers challenged Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina to present her biological dad, if alive, so he could unravel the story of his daughter’s authentic Nigerian citizenship.
