VIDEO: NIS arrests Favour Igiebor as husband denies passport mutilation incident

The woman who destroyed her husband’s passport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Favour Igiebor, has been arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and taken to Abuja.

In a 2:45 minutes video clip, the woman was seen being escorted by officers of the NIS.

Earlier, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) had said the prosecution of the woman who allegedly tore her husband’s Nigerian passport will serve as a deterrence to others.

On Saturday, videos of Igiebor destroying her husband’s passport at the MMIA in Lagos circulated on social media; and the NIS said it has launched a formal investigation into the issue.

In a statement on Monday, Paul Odenyi, deputy director at NOA, quoted the Director-General of the agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, to have condemned Igiebor’s action.

However, in a twist to the saga, Favour Igiebor’s husband’s has rebutted the mutilation of his Nigerian passport.

In a video, Mr. Igiebor not only apologised that he and his wife allegedly took the nation on a wild goose chase, he explained that it was a skit, and that his passport was intact. He added that the NIS had seen his passport.

he also took an umbrage at the media, saying they ought to have investigated the drama before making news of it.

‘We are sorry, my wife didn’t destroy my passport, the video was a skit,’ Mr. Igiebor alleged, while he also apologized to the general public.
