The Oba of Benin, HRM Ewuare II, has responded to Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s recent claims regarding his stance on Governor Godwin Obaseki’s candidacy during the 2016 elections.
During the thank-you visit from the Edo State APC, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to show appreciation for the election of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the incoming Edo State Governor, the Oba emphasized that he was never opposed to Obaseki’s governorship candidacy, effectively countering Oshiomhole’s allegations.
In his speech, Oshiomhole had apologized to the Oba for his (Oshiomhole’s) support for Obaseki in 2016, insinuating that the monarch had warned him against handing over power to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
However, the Oba swiftly refuted this assertion, clarifying that he never issued such a warning.
