Singer-songwriter Onyeka Onwenu died doing what she lived for all her life!
The Elegant Stallion, as she was fondly called by an admiring Press, was at her best at the 80th birthday of Founder and CEO of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Chief Stella Okoli.
A trending video shows Onwenu, in high spirits and beaming with smiles, serenading the birthday guests as she moves effortlessly from table to table, greeting the high net worth guests that included former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku; and Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections Peter Obi.
The ‘birthday gal,’ Mama Stella Okoli, is visibly happy, relaxed and beams with smiles as Onyeka serenaded her in their common Igbo language.
The singer was said to have slumped afterwards, and then rushed to the hospital where she passed on.
