VIDEO: Pastor Adeboye apologises about tithe, urges 40% instead

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, is trending.

This is because Daddy GO, as he is fondly called, in a trending video uploaded by the RCCG Young Adults & Youths Affairs via the unverified handle @rccgyayaglobal, has apologized to his flock for telling them that whoever doesn’t pay tithe will go to hell.

Though the original tweet has been deleted, its traces remain online as it has been downloaded, forwarded and retweeted already.

Meanwhile, while Pastor Adeboye appeared to be apologising for preaching a wrong doctrine, in a twist he went on to urge members to start paying up to 40 percent of their earnings as tithes instead of the regular 10 percent. The biblically recommended 10 percent, he argued, is for elementary or beginner tithe givers.

Noting that older givers should aim for 40 percent, Pastor Adeboye then urged his members to give “virulently.”
