The newly sworn-in president of Ghana, John Mahama, has incurred criticisms and varying reactions following his faux pas referring to his Nigerian counterpart, Bola Tinubu, as ‘President of the Federal Republic of Ghana.’
The faux pas happened during his inaugural speech. Reading from what appeared to be a prepared speech, the new president had said: “Your excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, president of the Federal Republic of Ghana,” while acknowledging dignitaries at the event.
