VIDEO: Suspected electricity vandal electrocuted in Enugu

A suspected vandal was found dead on Friday, inside an Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) transformer enclosure on Missionary Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu.

It is believed that the deceased was electrocuted while attempting to cut armored cables, as power supply was restored suddenly during the act.

Confirming this incident in a statement, EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, lamented the tragic incident and the increasing frequency of vandalism on electricity installations within the company’s network.

Ezeh emphasised that vandalism poses a significant challenge to the company, affecting both service quality and revenue.

He urged customers to join forces with the company to protect these facilities, noting that transformer vandalism affects not only the company but also the customers who rely on them.

“It’s a battle we all have to fight collectively because once these transformers are vandalised, customers who are served by the installation will be greatly affected,” Ezeh stresse
