President Bola Tinubu seems to be aware of the online bullying that Fulham Midfielder, Alex Iwobi, was put through in the aftermath of Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to the host Cote d’Ivoire at the 2023 AFCON finals where the Super Eagles returned home with the silver medal as second place winner.
It may be recalled that when he could no longer withstand the hate speeches that filled his DM and Instagram wall, Iwobi simply deleted all his Instagram posts and had become incommunicado on the social media since Monday.
The President, however, hosted the Super Eagles to a heroic welcome on Tuesday [today], and while he was exchanging pleasantries with the national team, he specifically asked after Iwobi.
“Alex, Alex, where is Alex?” The president asked, turning around to see the footballer as those around him also joined in calling Iwobi’s name.
