Whisper sweet nothings to your parent also -Ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri tells followers

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide, Reno Omokri, has shared a heartfelt message about the significance of valuing time and affection with parents.

In his usual ‘nuggets’ away from politics, Omokri posted on his X (Twitter) handle @renoomokri: “Your parents don’t need your ten cows when they die. They need your ten minutes’ call, your ten thousand when they are sick, and your ten seconds’ text to cheer them up daily.

“Call your dad and mum today and just say sweet nothings for ten minutes. Don’t save your sweet nothings for your love interests. Also, speak them to your parental interests. It seems like nothing to you, but I assure you it is everything to your father and mother.

“Every year that they remain alive, their circle of friends reduce due to death. Give them something to live for. Include them in your circle of attention. Remember, life is a cycle. And what you sow to your parents, you will reap from your children.”

In a world often consumed by the hustle and bustle of daily life, Reno’s words serve as a gentle reminder that amid the complexities of life, the simplest gestures can hold the most weight. It emphasizes that as parent age, what they truly yearn for goes beyond material possessions.

Taking just ten minutes out of a busy schedule to call and talk to parents, sharing stories and thoughts, can make a world of difference to them.

Reno’s narrative also touches on the cyclical nature of life. Just as parents care for their children, the roles eventually reverse. The love and attention we give our parents today lay the foundation for the bonds we share with our own children in the future.
