Why Guinness can’t recognise Chef Dammy’s effort

Organizers of the Guinness World Record Award have spoken up on Chef Damilola Adeparusi’s attempt at breaking the 96-hour record by Hilda Baci.

Damilola, aka Chef Dammy, is aiming for recognition as having set a new world record of 120 hours, a journey that took her six days, beginning from Friday 9th till Wednesday 14th June, 2023.

Chef Dammy turned off her cooking gas finally in the early hours of Wednesday, and she was greeted with mixed reactions from audience across the internet.

While a faction of the populace are on her side and won’t stop showering adulations on her for this immense feat, another faction thinks her effort is just an attempt at rabble-rousing and clout-chasing.

This is even as the GWR has finally come out to clear the air. In their address, the awarding body said Chef Damilola Adeparusi never put in an official application before kicking off her cooking marathon.

According to online platform Legit, GWR maintained that there are protocols to be observed and procedures to be followed, which would have been sent to her to serve as a working guide for her during the course of her performance.

“We have not received an application for this attempt. Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.

“Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines, specific to that record category that must be adhered to.

“This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record.

“Guinness World Records maintains a rigorous review process to maintain the integrity of each Guinness World Records title,” GWR stated in what appears to sound the death knell on the efforts of the young chef.
