Why I dumped my son into well -24-year-old suspect

The Delta State Police Command has paraded one Sofia Nkwo, a 24-year-old woman, in connection with the alleged killing of her 16-month-old son.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, confirmed the incident in a Press release.

According to CP Olufemi, the case of infanticide was reported to the Oleh Division on April 28, 2024.

Sofia Nkwo, a resident of Isoko South LGA, was accused of dumping her 16-month-old child in a well along the road in Araya community, Isoko South LGA.

“The floating body of the child was discovered in the well by children playing nearby.

“The suspect was immediately arrested, and during interrogation, she confessed to throwing the child into the well on April 24, 2024,” explained CP Olufemi.

He further stated that the suspect revealed that the motive behind the act was because the child was rejected by his father, and she couldn’t cater to his needs anymore.

During the parade, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi expressed strong condemnation of the alleged act committed by the suspect. He also warned the public to desist from such actions.
