Self-professed vocal changer who claims to help musicians that want to have the vocals of their favourite artistes on their own tracks, has explained why, of all things, he chose to adopt a controversial X handle @Lagospedia which is currently facing fire for an anti-Igbo tweet.
The controversial tweet went viral on July 27, 2024, announcing a purported planned #IgboMustGo protest ostensibly scheduled to hold from August 20 – 30, 2024, sparking widespread outrage on social media.
The criminal tweet warned people of South-East extraction, popularly known as Igbo, that they have one month from July 27 when the post was made to leave the entire South-West region.
The tweet also asked Yoruba citizens living in the South-East to return to the South-West.
The tweet reads, “Lagosians and every South-West stakeholders should prepare for the massive protest of #IgboMustGo on the 20th-30th of August.
“They have one month from now to leave and relocate their business from all South-West states. We urge all Yorubas living in the South-East to return home.”
Just when social media users thought that the original X account @Lagospedia was no longer available on X, the handle cropped up again, making people to wonder if it was the owner that resuscitated it.
In a bizarre twist, however, an X user, Revoicx, said he decided to ‘hijack’ the rested controversial handle @Lagospedia, in order to capitalise on its followership and popularity, not minding its antecedent as an X account that is widely perceived as hate monger.
Revoicx explains: DISCLAIMER: I don’t know anything about the former user of the Lagospedia handle, neither have I seen him before. The former handler changed name and I ‘hijacked’ the handle for a better purpose as it should be.
It is common knowledge that the person using the Lagospedia X handle in the past used it to spread hatred and bigotry but that won’t be the case anymore.
This is to inform the general public that another person has taken up the popular Lagospedia X handle
@Lagospedia … From now on, this handle shall be used to tell the beautiful stories of Lagos, past and present. Kindly follow now.. A new chapter has begun!
Lagospedia as an X handle is too beautiful to be used for propagating hate and bigotry. Well, let’s just say I hijacked it for the purpose it should been serving. I don’t know the former handler in anyway. I only changed my X handle to Lagospedia.
So, please, it’s not in anyway connected to the former user of the handle. I jumped on the name when it became available so at least the name can serve it’s purpose, which is telling Lagos stories.
Meanwhile, despite what he considers an advantage and also despite his 40 tweets so far, the new @Lagospedia only has a paltry 22 followers.
