The Department of State Services (DSS) has revealed that it arrested and detained investigative journalist, Adejuwon Soyinka, based on a request from another government agency.
The DSS spokesperson, Peter Ifunnaya, confirmed that the agency “intercepted” Soyinka, the West African Regional Editor of the Conversation Africa, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday.
Ifunnaya stated that the DSS was working on Soyinka’s case but did not disclose the identity of the agency that requested the arrest.
Soyinka was arrested at about 5:40 a.m. on Sunday shortly after arriving in Nigeria from the United Kingdom via a Virgin Atlantic flight.
