Wigwe University is trending because the scenic tertiary institution, founded by the late Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe, will start taking applications this summer.
According to its website, “Wigwe University launches in 129 days.” That is around August.
The school is reportedly founded with the expectations that it will attain the Ivy League standard.
However, focus is also on its pricey tuition, which many netizens can hardly wrap their heads around.
A Twitterati, Alex Onyia, set the ball rolling for the discussions via his verified X handle @winexviv. He had tweeted: “Wigwe University will officially open it’s doors to the public from August. The faculty members will be resuming fully on campus in July. The school so far is the most beautiful University Campus in Nigeria. The school is designed to be the first Ivy-League standard University from Africa. I love what I’m seeing.”
The school had earlier tweeted via its official X handle @WigweUniversity: “At Wigwe University, our teaching design is more than a theoretical approach, we focus on practical life skills and knowledge so that each student who walks through our doors will walk out our doors to become a game changer in any industry that he/she finds herself in.”
Onyia also provided link to the tuition payable per session:
- College of Arts: ₦9,600,000
- College of Engineering: ₦11,998,800

The school fees is out of this world, but I guess it will be worth it if you have the cash.

I don’t know if they have 24/7 electricity. But my hot take is that a school without 24/7 electricity and widespread, readily available wifi can not be considered Ivy League.

Thank God it’s not owned by a Church, an agenda would have been “agending” by now

It’s well 😂— Yvonne not Nelson (@yvonne_onyi) May 14, 2024
To an average Nigerian, it’s not affordable at all oh.. 10m plus for computer science and co. After seeing it, people should understand that other private schools owned by Church are actually affordable and they are really trying.

This is nothing, Yahaya Bello can afford to make one-time advance payment for 10 academic sessions.

The world has changed if anyone can afford this for this for his/her children, is far better than sending them abroad to study as the funds generated remains in the country otherwise send your children to govt dilapidated public schools
