Woman suspected of child trafficking caught in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has apprehended a woman believed to be involved in child trafficking in the Sharada area of Gwale local government.

Commander of Vigilante Group, Shehu Rabi’u, disclosed that the suspect was allegedly trading children, quoting prices of N1 million for males and N800,000 for females.

Operatives of the vigilante group said they discovered the woman’s activities when she attempted to deceive a mother-of-four, promising her money and food in exchange for going to a specific location.

Following a diligent effort, the vigilantes successfully apprehended the woman, and both she and the children have been handed over to the police.

This incident follows the recent bursting of a child trafficking syndicate by the state police command, where nine children were rescued and subsequently reunited with their parents.

The traffickers had reportedly taken the children to the Southern part of the country, altering their names and religion.
