Yobe assembly begins consideration of bill for amendment of Hisbah commission law

The consideration of the bill aimed at amending the Hisbah Commission law has been initiated by the Yobe State House of Assembly.

The executive arm of government presented the bill, which successfully passed its second reading on Tuesday following extensive deliberations by members.

The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, led the debate on the bill, explaining that the governor had assented to the Hisbah bill but referred it back to the House for certain sections to be amended.

He stated that the amendments would separate the functions of the executive chairman and the state Commandant of the Hisbah Commission.

Calling for support, the Majority Leader urged members to endorse the bill.

Presiding over the session, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, referred the bill to the House standing committee on Justice and Religious Affairs for further legislative action.
