Popular Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer, Simisola Kosoko, fondly called Simi by her fans, has revealed her goal as a feminist.
Speaking in an interview on the recent episode of ‘Tea with Taypod’ podcast, she said her goal is to advocate for women’s right to freely choose their life path without duress or fear.
“My goal is to fight for women’s right to choose, not under duress nor out of fear but genuinely choose whatever they want to be.
“If you want to be a stay-at-home mum, the most submissive wife in the world, a slay mama, a board room beast, let it be your choice. I feel that is the only way freedom is genuinely possible,” she said.
She expressed the belief that every woman should be empowered to make decisions about their lives, whether focusing on a career or choosing a homemaker role.
Having been featured on Alicia Keys’ tour, Simi emphasised the significance of true freedom for women, allowing them to make choices aligned with their desires and aspirations.
Expressing her obsession with music, Simi shared that 99.9percent of the reason she does music is because she is deeply passionate about it.
Interestingly, she disclosed that when she first met her husband, Adekunle Gold, who is also a musician, she was unaware of his singing career, as she had never intended to marry a singer.
Adding, “99.9percent of the reason why I am doing music is because I am obsessed with it.
“When I first met my husband, I never knew he was singing because I had never wanted to marry a singer. He was a fan and had sent me messages on Facebook but I did not respond.”
She got married to Adekunle Gold in January 2019 and they have a daughter named Adejare.
