Anthony Asuquo , the head coach of Tony International Gymnastics club (TIG) says 11 female and two male gymnasts will represent Nigeria at the International Continental Cup 2024 (Artistic Gymnastics) in Anadia, Portugal.
Asuquo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja that the gymnasts would depart Nigeria on Nov. 6 for the competition.
The International Continental Cup 2024 (Artistic Gymnastics) is scheduled for Nov. 8 to Nov. 10 in Anadia, Portugal.
According to him, all arrangements and documentation have been concluded by the relevant government agencies for the all-important competition.
“We are going with 13 gymnasts for the qualification and the gymnasts representing the country are between the ages of six to 19 years.
“Our gymnasts have undergone rigorous training and are fully prepared for the tournament. We will depart the country on Wednesday, Nov. 6 to participate in the competition,’’ he said.
The coach gave the names of those that will represent Nigeria in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) as; Angela Marinoni (category D), Chenille Okpanku (category C),David Dida (category D),Fransica Okpanku ( category E),Desire Enahoro-Agbi (category E).
Others are; Brianna Eze-Primacy (category E), Aurelia Ehiogu (category C), Kaka Shaba(category E), Igonga Shaba(category E), Chukwumnadigide Oguegbulu (category E) and Enamhe Hillary (category E).
In the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), Nigeria will be represented by Brian Eze-Primacy (category E) and Samuel Abdulrahmon (category D).
He said that the coaching crew would be led by himself and Joshua Aliyu, while Ogbonnya Obasi and Nyebuchi Shaba will serve as their chaperone.
Asuquo assured that the young gymnasts will make Nigeria proud by winning medals at the competition. (NAN)
