The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has stressed the importance of combating false teachings and prophecies within the church community
The governor gave the counsel while addressing the congregation at the Standing Committee Meeting of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in Delta State.
Speaking at the Anglican Cathedral Church of the Ascension in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North-East Local Government Area, Oborevwori decried the prevalence of false doctrines and prophecies, particularly among Christians.
He also lauded the selection of the theme, “Who is on the Lord’s Side: Contending with the Apostasy in Our Generation,” describing it as “timely and crucial,” given the recent global events.
The governor narrated his encounter with false prophecies before assuming office, underscoring the need for continuous prayers for the nation.
He commended the Church for its advocacy for good governance and its unwavering support for the poor and less privileged.
Furthermore, Governor Oborevwori pledged to facilitate cooperation between the government and the Church in order “to foster inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.”
Recognizing the Church as a vital partner for peace and stability, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to collaboration in pursuit of common good.
