Convicted Dr Olufemi Olaleye bags life jail for rape of wife’s 15-year-old niece

The Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Agency sitting in Ikeja has sentenced the Medical Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, to life imprisonment for defiling his wife’s 15-yr-old niece.

The doctor was sentenced by Justice Rahman Oshodi after he was found guilty of the offence of defilement and sexual penetration of the teenage girl.

According to the Judge, the prosecution was able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt; adding that all the evidences before the court corroborated that of the victim.

It would be recalled that Olaleye was arraigned on November 30, 2022, on two counts bordering on defilement and sexual assault, preferred against him by the Lagos State Government. He pleaded not guilty to the offences.

But the Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Babajide Martins, had also told the court that Olaleye committed the offences between February 2020 and November 2021 at No 17, Layi Ogunbambi close, Maryland, Lagos.

He was accused of unlawfully having sexual intercourse with his wife’s niece as well as sexually assaulting her, by penetrating her mouth with his penis.

These offences, according to the prosecution, contravenes Sections 137 and 261 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.

It was reported by The PUNCH that following his plea of not guilty, Justice Oshodi granted Dr. Olaleye bail in the sum of N50m with two sureties in like sum who must have landed property in Lagos state while both sureties were ordered to provide evidence of tax payments to the state government in the last three years.

However, during the trial, the convict’s wife, Aderemi Olaleye, told the court that her husband had been sexually abusing her niece during her stay with them.

She testified in court that her husband first introduced pornography and oral sex to her niece and released sperm into her mouth, an act, which, she said, started in March 2020 till July 2021.

The mother-of-two, who is the complainant, added that her husband committed the act with her niece in different places in their home where there were no CCTVs.

The victim was said to have confessed to a relative and their driver, that the doctor had been sleeping with her and threatened to kill her and the witness if she told anyone.
