Three estate agents on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N230,000 by false pretence.
The defendants, Obed Justice, 42; Adeshina Olutuyishe, 54; and Anthony Samuel, 38, reside in Oshodi, Lagos.
The defendants were charged with conspiracy and obtaining under false pretences.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 29, 2023 at 10, Ilare Close, Mafoluku Oshodi, Lagos.
Akeem said that the defendants obtained the sum of N230,000 from the complainant, Mr. Ubong Isangedishi, on false pretence of securing a room and parlour apartment for him.
He said that the defendants failed to secure the apartment and refused to refund the money to the complainant.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 314 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, granted each of the defendants N200,000 bail, with two sureties each in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until April 24, for mention. (NAN)
